Why Summer festivals are better without the wine!

Last Summer I went to Wilderness Festival in the Cotswolds, it’s such a great festival for families. Our girls were 7 & 9 at the time and really enjoyed everything it had to offer.

We camped with another family and my husband and I were both alcohol free. I’d always associated festivals as hedonistic affairs but being sober didn’t mean we enjoyed it any less, in fact just like alcohol free Christmas, holidays abroad and birthdays, I enjoyed it so much more without the wine.

🏕️ Waking up in a tent without the throbbing head or dehyration is an absolute winner

👨‍👨‍👧‍👧 Rather than being fixated with the beer tent and standing in endless queues I loved being able to drop in on all the acts, exploring and just being present with my daughters

🍷 There were some excellent alcohol free options - I loved the red from Wednesday’s Domaine and there was always no alcohol beers chilled

The whole vibe at Wilderness is centred around “wholesome hedonism” with a whole section dedicated to holistic wellness with everything from breathwork, yoga, massage stations.

If you haven’t been to a festival alcohol free and are feeling a little nervous, I promise you, embrace all the positives and you’ll be surprised how much better they are without alcohol!

PS - getting the tent down at the end will also be a lot less of an ordeal!
